From an API to an app inside Claude and ChatGPT
Written up in November 2026 from our engineering log · 2 min read
Until October, connecting an assistant to Dr Urls meant copying an API key. On 21 October it became something you can add with one click and a sign-in.
Sign in instead of pasting a key
The MCP server gained OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration. An assistant registers itself, you sign in and approve, and it receives a key that works only on the MCP server, with analyst rights and no team or billing powers. You can revoke it from your dashboard at any time.

The server was published in the official MCP registry and approved in Claude's connector directory the same day. For ChatGPT, where apps may not sell inside the conversation, connections made from ChatGPT see no prices, top-ups or marketplace tools at all — enforced on the server, not by asking the model to behave.
