Too many on-page links: what it is, why it matters, and how to fix it

This page contains more than 200 links (internal and external combined). While Google no longer enforces a strict limit, an excessive number of links can dilute PageRank distribution and overwhelm users.

PageRank is divided among all links on a page, so more links means less equity passed to each destination. Pages with hundreds of links may also be perceived as low-quality or spammy directories. Excessive links create noise that makes it harder for search engines to identify which pages you consider most important through your internal linking strategy.

Reduce the number of links by removing redundant, low-priority, or irrelevant links. Prioritise links to your most important pages. Consider using pagination, collapsible sections, or hub-and-spoke architecture to distribute links more effectively across multiple pages.

This is a low-severity issue: a polish item. Fix it in batches during scheduled maintenance; the win is cumulative quality, not a step change. It belongs to the internal_links family of checks.
